What is Specialty Coffee?
Specialty coffee is coffee that scores at least 80 out of 100 points in a professional cupping according to SCA standards. At Man vs Machine we work exclusively above this threshold — and cup every coffee ourselves before it is shippe.
Are your coffees certified organic?
Some of our coffees are certified organic — identifiable by the organic label on the product page. Our general focus is on quality and traceable origin, independent of certification.
Do you roast Robusta?
No. We have worked exclusively with Arabica, specialty grade, since 2014.
What does Omni Roast mean?
Omni Roast means a coffee is suitable for both espresso and filter methods — without a separate roast profile for each brewing method.
What is the difference between your ranges - Core Range, Seasonal, Special Editions?
The Core Range contains our roasts, available year-round. Seasonal Coffees are limited lots that change with the harvest season. The Special Editions are very small quantities from exceptional origins — lots we offer selectively and rarely.
What is the Anomaly Edition?
Anomaly Edition is dedicated to rare and unconventional coffees that defy standard classification, focusing on experimental and process-driven coffees.
Can I order coffee pre-ground?
Yes. When ordering, whole beans or various grind sizes can be selected (Moka Pot, V60, Aeropress or filter). For best results we recommend whole beans and grinding fresh. And we don't grind for portafilter machines, as it is almost impossible to find the correct grind size for exactly your machine and the parameters your brewing it.
What is the expiry date of the coffees?
We recommend consuming the coffee within 4 to 6 weeks of the roast date. Store cool, dark and airtight - best in the original bag. But officially it is 1 year - and with time the taste and aroma will be lost.
What means Ceremonial Grade Matcha?
Ceremonial grade denotes the highest quality level in matcha - made from tencha, the only tea leaf from which real matcha is produced. Identifiable by the deep green colour, silky texture and distinctly sweet flavour.
What is the difference between your matcha products?
ACE OF JADE is our highest-graded matcha, suited for traditional preparation and drinking pure. Green Machine Matcha is developed for milk-based drinks - stronger in character to hold its own through milk.
Where does your matcha come from?
We source our matcha directly from a family farm in Japan - 1st and 2nd flush tencha, long-term partnership, transparent origin.
How does the coffee subscription work?
When ordering, simply select "Monthly subscription" instead of "One-time purchase". Frequency and quantity can be adjusted in your account at any time. Pausing and cancelling is possible at any time.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Changes and cancellations are possible as long as the order has not yet been shipped. Please contact us as quickly as possible by email at orders@mvsm.coffee.
Do you offer gift cards for the online shop and your Cafés?
Yes. Gift cards are available in the online shop and valid for all products in the online shop - so far they can't be redeemed in our Cafés due to separate systems. However you can get a voucher for the Cafés in every location. Unfortunately we can't sell or ship vouchers for the Cafés to you.
When will my order be shipped?
Orders are usually shipped the same day or the next working day. The coffee leaves the roastery freshly roasted and is usually not older than seven days - the roast date is printed on the bag.
From what order value is shipping free?
Within Germany from an order value of 40 euros.
Do you ship internationally?
We do ship worldwide. As the shipping rates depend on the weight and country, please enter your order and find your rates upon check-out.
How long does delivery take?
Within Germany 2 to 3 business days after shipping.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Visa, PayPal und Apple Pay.
When is my credit card charged?
Your credit card will be charged right after you placed your order.

Sure, we offer individual trainings for wholesale partners and their baristas. For this we can arrange individual appointments and classes - according to partners' needs and questions.
