From Munich to Tokyo: Tomo Represents Man Versus Machine at SCAJ 2026

Tomo, our shop manager, senior barista, and the heartbeat of our cafe in Schellingstrasse, recently visited the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ) festival in Tokyo! Returning to his roots, Tomo brought a taste of our Munich roasting philosophy directly to one of the most vibrant coffee cultures in the world.

Brewing at the Nordic Approach Booth

The highlight of the festival saw Tomo stepping behind the bar at the Nordic Approach Japan booth. Armed with our carefully sourced and roasted beans, he spent his time doing what he does best: brewing incredible coffee and sharing it with an eager, passionate crowd. It was a beautiful full-circle moment, showcasing our deep commitment to quality and the incredible green coffee partnerships that make our menus possible.

Strengthening Global Partnerships

SCAJ wasn't just about brewing; it was about community. Tomo acted as our global ambassador, handing out coffee samples and connecting deeply with our industry partners. From catching up with the green coffee visionaries at Nordic Approach, to talking design and innovation with Kinto, and sharing a laugh with our oat milk friends at Minor Figures, the trip reinforced the strong network of creators and suppliers that stand behind every cup we serve.

Beyond the business, Tomo had a great time sharing our craft, exchanging brewing philosophies, and soaking in the incredible energy of the Tokyo coffee scene.
